GrassrootsWiki follows the idea, that collaborative work in the long-run results in a more comprehensive presentation of a topic. If an article, e.g. on a specific product, is perfect, no addition is needed. In case, someone uses the technology and has some helpful additions, is it worth to allow to add these to the article and to risk a bit the original coherence? We think yes. And we know, not everyone will like this approach.
Of course, we understand scepticism concerning the quality. It has, with a minimum effort, to be ensured by the editors and the moderators. Wiki tools help to do so, e.g. by sending an E-mail when a article on your individual watchlist is changed. The wiki has a history function. Using it every previous version of an article can be restored easily.
We assume, that GrassrootsWiki is mostly used by people interested in disseminating their findings and to benefit from the experiences of others. Therefore, we think the wiki is a helpful instrument to support these processes, isn't it?
